Breast Augmentation Revision by ROXY Plastic Surgery
There are many rumors that every ten years you need to update your breast augmentation. Well, this is simply not true! Nothing happens in 10 years that would make you need surgery if you are doing fine. The most common reasons why women have another surgery after their breast augmentation is that they chose Saline and they want to exchange to a more natural look with Silicone. The other most common reason is that they wish they were a larger size.
Dr. Grawe also performs revisions for patients who are disappointed with their results when someone else performed their breast augmentation. Whether the implant is not in the right place or they are dealing with capsular contracture, revision surgery can be performed to enhance your results and help you feel confident in and out of clothes!

HOW IT WORKS
Consultation and Planning
When you come to a consultation at ROXY Plastic Surgery, Dr. Grawe will examine you and determine if you would benefit from breast augmentation revision. It is very helpful to bring your implant card or records to evaluate what you currently have in place. Together with Dr. Grawe, you will explore your options for revision and expected outcomes as well as see and feel the implants. Some revisions require work on the implant capsule while other patients benefit from a breast lift and some even decide to remove their implants.
Breast Augmentation Revision is an outpatient surgery so you can go home the same day. You will be completely asleep for surgery so you don’t feel or remember anything. Each procedure is designed specifically for your needs and you will discuss this with Dr. Grawe prior to surgery.
Most people have some discomfort after surgery which is easily taken care of with pain medicine. You will notice a difference right away… Although you will have swelling after surgery, you will look great in clothes immediately! Breast Augmentation Revision is an excellent way to get your confidence back.
You will notice a difference immediately after surgery but you will be very swollen and the results will improve with time as the swelling goes down and the scars fade.
You should not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for at least 2 weeks after surgery. You should walk around immediately after surgery and NOT stay in bed. This is important to prevent blood clots. You may remove your outer dressing and shower 48 hours after surgery. You should eat a healthy diet and as much protein as possible to promote good healing.
You may drive and return to work when you are no long taking prescription pain medicine. Most people are able to return to a light duty job about 1-2 weeks after surgery.
Remember that everyone is different. Recovery times and progression is not the same for everyone. The times stated are typical for healthy individuals healing from this surgery. The normal progression of healing may be different for those with health problems, smokers, and those who have unforeseen complications after surgery.

With every surgery there are risks involved including bleeding, infection, blood clots, pain, scarring, delayed healing and need for further surgery. Here are some complications specific to Breast Augmentation Revision:
If an area of the breast skin does not heal normally, you may develop a wound which requires dressing changes and takes longer than normal to heal.
Most people are not symmetrical from one side to the other and there may be asymmetries after surgery as well.
Breast surgery may have scars on the breast – this is necessary to improve the shape of the breast, move the nipple to the center of the breast, and make the breasts firm and youthful. The scars fade and improve over time. There may be a scar that looks worse than normal and additional treatments can be done to improve the result.
The patient may not be able to breastfeed after surgery. The nipple may lose sensation or become more sensitive. If the nipple does not get adequate blood supply after the lift, it may become like a wound and need additional treatments to improve the result.
Patients who have surgery for capsular contracture may develop recurrent capsular contracture which may require further surgery to improve.
