Permanent Cosmetics FAQ

What is Permanent Cosmetics?

Permanent Cosemtics or Permanent Make-up is a procedure where a small amount of pigment is inserted under the top layer of the skin much like a tattoo. This can be used as make-up such as eyeliner, eyebrows, lip liner and lipstick or for nipple and areola reconstruction after breast cancer.

The difference permanent cosmetics can make is amazing! It can emphasize the eyes and ips and rebalance the face. This creates a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

Once the skin heals over the inserted pigment, it seals the makeup inside. Protected by the skin, the makeup is carefree, waterproof and wont smudge or run.

What Can I Expect during my Treatment?

First, we will recommend shapes and colors which work best with your natural features. Next, applying these shapes and colors with temporary makeup, we will show you what the permanent makeup may look like on you. When we are happy with the design, we will apply the permanent makeup. We use topical anesthetic so that the procedure is very comfortable with minimal to no swelling.

Right after the procedure, the colors may look bright and dramatic. However, as skin heals over the pigment, the colors will begin to soften and blend with your own skin color, creating a more
natural look. The shade and intensity of the final color will depend on the color of the chosen pigment as well as color and translucency of your skin.

We offer a complimentary second visit, one month after the initial procedure for possible touch up color enhancement.

Is the treatment safe?

Permanent makeup procedures do have some risks that are similar to other minor office procedures and tattooing.  The pigment is inserted through tiny punctures in the skin.  There is a low risk of infection and that is why we offer a very sterile clean environment through a plastic surgery office.  All needles are single-use disposable cartidges.

How long with my makeup last?

Permanent cosmetics may last many years but this varies between patients depending on your age, condition of the skin and other external factors. It is recommended to return for a color touch-up every year if you would like to keep the treated area looking crisp and fresh.
