Trick or treat! It is that time of the year again for an infinite amount of sweet treats and dressing the part for those costume parties! Many of you will be in a full festive costume, including a face chocked full of thick and heavy makeup! Any idea what this can do to the complexion you’ve worked so hard for? There is nothing spookier than waking up to a bunch of new zits and clogged pores! Here are a couple of tips to help your skin survive Halloween this year:
Consider paying more for your makeup! It is often the cheaper costume makeup sold in generic stores that is heavier and more likely to clog your pristine pores. Look for the key word “noncomedogenic” on the label as a good starting point.
Moisturize your skin prior to applying the costume makeup. This will provide a smoother and less absorbent canvas for the makeup to go over!
Use your Clarisonic Smart brush to remove that heavy costume makeup before you go to bed. Studies have shown the Clarisonic to be eleven times more effective at removing dirt and makeup from our faces compared to your hands alone!
As always, be sure to stay hydrated! Maintaining an adequate water intake is the key foundation to healthy and luminous skin. And remember, alcohol sets you back as far as hydration goes!
Lay off the sweets and candies as much as possible! All of the extra sugar we consume from candy causes a spike in insulin which sets off the inflammatory response throughout the body. This process actually produces a set of enzymes that can result in fine lines and wrinkles by breaking down collagen and elastin. Talk about scary!
Lastly – exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! This is a great time to think about exfoliating treatments such as dermaplaning or chemical peels to get your skin back to baseline.
