Westerville Mayor Diane Fosselman issued a proclamation in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month earlier this week at the Westerville City Council Meeting. Vice Mayor Kathy Cocuzzi presented the proclamation to Unhee Kim, president of Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, and Dr. K. Roxanne Grawe, MD, Medical Director for Breast Services at Mount Carmel.
“There will be over 230,000 women that are diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 – but there are 2.3 million breast cancer survivors,” stated Dr. Grawe. “Due to early detection, the breast cancer survivors continue to increase”. “It is important for women 40 years and older to get their screening mammograms each year because this can detect cancers before they are noticed by you or your physician”. “I am so honored to accept this proclamation to focus on patients with breast cancer – we work with breast cancer patients every single day. They have touched our lives and we are honored to be able to touch theirs.”
Breast health and breast reconstruction are issues that are near and dear to the team at ROXY Plastic Surgery, and we are proud to be a part of the Westerville community. We salute all breast cancer survivors not only just this month, but every day.
